VFW ACTION ALERT: Agent Orange Presumptions in Jeopardy

AGENT ORANGE PRESUMPTIONS IN JEOPARDY

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. is adamantly opposed to an amendment proposed by Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) to change the manner in which presumptive disabilities related to exposure to Agent Orange would be determined. The senator wants to require veterans to prove a positive connection between Agent Orange exposure and one or more of the 15 presumptive illnesses that the VA now recognizes. We cannot allow this amendment to pass.

Vietnam veterans have suffered long enough from the effects of exposure to Agent Orange. For decades we told the government that being exposed to Agent Orange made veterans sick. Now that the VA Secretary has determined he had the scientific evidence required to recognize the disabilities, we cannot allow a change in presumptive rules just because the government can't balance its own budget.

The cost of caring for our nation's veterans continues long after the last shots are fired. America and the United States Congress must live up to that obligation. Call or e-mail both your U.S. Senators today and tell them that "Coburn Amendment #564 to H.R. 2055 is a deal breaker with America's veterans!"

  4. Sen Coburn
The people have spoken that if you did run for re-elction you would not win. The VA already agrees on the Presumptive illnesses, and you do not agree. To me you need to step down now as you have kicked each Veteran in the ass for you Amendment you attached to HR 2055. I hope you can face your people for what you did.

  8. Please explain the undue hardships many Navy, Marines, civilians who had been at Camp Lejeune, NC USNC during the decades exposed to Contaminated drinkkng water. As of 7/2011 Congress still has not funded medical care, nor compensation due to exposures.
Please explain the "quiteness" about the similar contaminations and unsellable, contaminated property of "El Toro, CA Base" and the many victims due to those exposures. Hiding/not disclosing information by Gov. And our military isn't much different than lying by omission, (In my opionion and based on my commonsense) Shame on the Members of Congress, throughout the years, that have not seen to it that all Veterans receive the medical care and benefits each was "promissed" while giving their full body, mind and spirit in defense of OUR AMERICA for many years.
PEACE to those that read this and God Bless YOU.
